Younger Futhark
Ár is a good year in the Younger Futhark, plenty, and the Norwegian poem adds the part the Elder rune does not: it says Frodi was generous. Abundance here arrives on the season's schedule and is shared out, and the sharing is what the poem remembers about it. This week something comes in, more than you needed, and the rune's whole instruction is about the surplus. Give some of it away, deliberately, to somebody who did not plant. A good year that is hoarded is a bad year with a full barn, and the poem knows which king it praises.
