Naudhiz is need: pressure you cannot negotiate with, and what it forces out of you. This is a constrained month, and the rune's peculiar promise is that constraint produces something. Fire is made by friction and this is the friction. Do not spend the month arguing with the limit. Work inside it and notice what you invent because you had no other option. The people who come through a Naudhiz stretch well are the ones who stopped waiting for it to lift. Write down what the constraint forced you to invent, because you will forget it entirely once the pressure lifts and want it again next year.

Nauðr is a condition you are held in, with the exits already closed. October is constrained, and the Icelandic poem calls it the hard choice: when options narrow to two, you discover what you actually prefer. Do not spend the month negotiating with the limit, because it is not a party to the conversation. Work inside it. Something gets settled this month that a wider field of options would have let you postpone for another year, and the settling is the rune's rough gift rather than its punishment. Note which of the two you chose when it was over, because that preference is worth more than the month itself.

Nyd is need, and the poem grants it a strange mercy: it is narrow on the chest, yet often becomes a help and salvation to the children of men if they heed it in time. Pressure that teaches only if you listen early. October constrains something, and the whole rune turns on that timing. A limit noticed in the first week is a design constraint and produces better work; the same limit noticed in the last week is a crisis. Go and find where the narrowness is now, while attending to it is still cheap and voluntary. The narrowness is information rather than punishment, and information collected early is the whole difference between a design and a crisis.

nGéadal is wounding, and the kennings put it plainly: harm, and the economy that grows around harm. September asks you to look at where damage in your situation has become somebody's livelihood or somebody's habit. That sounds dramatic and is usually mundane. A process that only exists because something keeps going wrong. A role that depends on the problem continuing. A grievance that has become a way of relating. The rune is not asking for blame. It is asking whether the injury is still being treated or has quietly become the arrangement, and September is when that question can be answered without anybody losing face.
