Younger Futhark

Ýr is the yew in the Younger Futhark, and the Norse poems read it as a bow: winter-greenest of trees, and it crackles when it burns. A bow is stored tension, drawn, held, not yet released. This week you are drawn. Something has been pulled back and is being held at full stretch, and the whole skill is in the holding. Do not loose it early to relieve the strain, and do not lower it because your arm is tired. The bow that is held steadiest is the one whose arrow goes where it was aimed, and the release is a different week's business.
