Modesty

Hexagram 15 is the mountain inside the earth: great height that does not announce itself. It is the only hexagram in the classic with no unfavourable lines anywhere, which is worth knowing when it lands on a year. The text says the noble person carries things through to the end, and that ending well is the whole point. 2026 rewards the version of you that does not need to be seen doing it. That is not self-effacement and it is not modesty as performance, which the classic would recognise as its opposite. It is the practical business of reducing what is excessive and adding to what is insufficient, quietly, over twelve months, in situations where nobody is auditing your contribution. Expect the year to give you at least one opportunity to claim more credit than is strictly yours, and expect declining it to be worth more than taking it.
