What it does

Naga handles the release of air trapped in the digestive tract. A belch is the ordinary case, a hiccup the awkward one, and both are treated as this wind doing its job.

The minor winds are listed because the system is committed to accounting for every movement in the body, including the ones nobody chooses.

The name

Nagas are serpents in Indian myth, often associated with what lies coiled underground and comes up. Applying the name to a rising release of air is straightforward and slightly comic, which the tradition seems comfortable with.
