Ior is a river-fish that takes its food on land, which is not a fish. The poem never names the animal, and the beaver accounts for the most clauses: it has a fair dwelling surrounded by water, where it lives in delight. That is the most contented verse in a poem otherwise full of hazard and cost. Today you work across two elements, two roles or two rooms, and the stanza is clear that this can be comfortable rather than a strain. What makes it comfortable is the dwelling. Check the base you come back to before you range any further out from it.
