Yashas means fame or glory. The channel runs on the left side between gandhari and saraswati and reaches the left ear, or the left big toe, depending on which manuscript you are reading.

Where it runs

Yashasvini rises on the left, between gandhari and saraswati in the usual ordering, and terminates at the left ear. The Shiva Samhita's toe reading pairs it with hastijihva, which that text also sends to a toe, so the two variants travel together.

When a source sends channels to the toes rather than the head it is usually describing the downward distribution of prana rather than sense function.

The Shiva Samhita's toe reading is not an outlier. A whole family of tables treats yashasvini as the channel of gross motor movement and tactile sensation, running out through the limbs and terminating in the great toes.

The name

Yashas is glory or reputation. Naming a channel for it is unusual in a list otherwise full of shapes and fluids, and the commentaries do not explain the choice. It may simply be a euphonic pairing with payasvini on the other side, since the two names share a rhythm.
