Futhorc

Stan is a stone, and as a letter it is a convenience rather than a necessity: sigel and tir joined into one stave for a cluster the script could already write. No stanza, no commentary, no symbolic use survives, so what it offers is the plain word. Anglo-Saxon charters define an estate by walking its bounds from landmark to landmark, stone to stone, and the stone does its work by not moving while everything around it is argued over. Use these seven days to set one. Decide where a line of yours actually runs, put it in a form another person could check, and leave it there long enough to be worth something. An unmarked boundary gets walked through by people who are not trespassing.
