EN (English)Mannaz is a person held in a network of other people, and not here for long. Today puts you among others rather than alone with a task. What you are is partly made of who is around you. Ask for something, or offer it. The rune is a reminder that the network is the actual asset.
Runes: Saturday, October 3
A rune from each of the four scripts
This is an archived reading, kept as it was published.
Maðr is a human being: other people's joy, and soil in waiting. The Icelandic poem puts delight and the grave in the same line without flinching. Today is a good day to be in company and a bad one to postpone anything on the assumption of unlimited time. Both halves of that are the rune. Neither is a warning exactly.
Mann is a human being, and the poem does not soften it: dear to his kinsmen, and yet each must fail the other, since the lord will commit the flesh to the earth. Today is for the people rather than the plans. The rune's realism is not gloom. It is the reason to make the call today instead of when things are quieter.
Ailm is the open vowel: the first sound a person makes, before it is a word. Today something is at the stage of noise rather than meaning, and pressing it into a sentence too early will shrink it. Let it stay unnamed. You are allowed to be working on something you cannot yet describe. Notes rather than announcements, and no summary for anybody who asks today.
For your star sign
The same reading, taken through each sign of the zodiac.
Aries
A person held in a network of others, and not here long. Today puts you among people rather than alone with a task.
Taurus
You are made partly of who is around you, which you rarely acknowledge. Ask somebody for something today.
Gemini
Mannaz is the human in the network, which is your natural habitat. Use it deliberately rather than incidentally.
Cancer
Dear to your kinsmen, and each must fail the other in the end. Make the call today rather than when it is quieter.
Leo
A person among others rather than above them. Today is for being one of the company. No audience is required for this one.
Virgo
You are part of a network whether or not you have optimised it. Ask for help rather than solving it alone.
Libra
Mannaz is people in relation, which is your whole subject. Today it asks for one relationship rather than the balance of all.
Scorpio
You are held in a network you have not fully mapped. Let somebody in today rather than assessing them.
Sagittarius
People rather than places today. The network is the asset and it needs attending to occasionally. Choose the direction before the speed.
Capricorn
You built the structure and the people inside it are the point. Spend the day on one of them.
Aquarius
The network is real even where you find the individuals inconvenient. Deal with a person rather than the group.
Pisces
You feel the connection easily and act on it rarely. Act on it today; make the contact. Put it in words somebody can answer.
For your Chinese animal
The same reading, taken through each animal of the Chinese zodiac.
Rat
Today puts you among people rather than alone with the work, which is not your preference. Use the network deliberately.
Ox
You are held in a web of obligations you rarely name. Name one today and either honour it or release it.
Tiger
You will lead the company rather than join it. Join it today; Mannaz is a person among others.
Rabbit
Your people are the whole subject today. Make the contact you have been meaning to make for a month.
Dragon
You are one of the company rather than at the head of it today. That is the rune rather than a demotion.
Snake
You are in a network you have mapped and not used. Use one connection today. Consider whether it is more useful said.
Horse
People rather than distance today. Stay in the company longer than you find comfortable. Pick one before the energy picks for you.
Goat
You feel the network keenly. Ask it for something rather than only holding it together. Ask before you are emptied.
Monkey
You know everybody and rely on none of them. Rely on one person today. Ask whether it needs solving at all.
Rooster
The network is untidy and it is what holds. Deal with a person rather than tidying the structure.
Dog
Your loyalty is the network's spine. Let somebody carry a piece of it back for you today. Aim it at what actually happened.
Pig
You are among people and will give to all of them. Take something from one of them instead.
