EN (English)Ingwaz is the god Ing, first seen among the East Danes, then gone east over the wave with his wagon behind him. The rune is potential sealed and gathering. Over a week that means keep the seal; over a day it means something smaller and more exact. Today, do not open the thing you are curious about. A message unsent, a result unchecked, a plan not yet shared: each of them is a wagon with the cover on, and one look inside today costs part of the load. Let it gather for one more day. The departure is close and not yet.
Runes: Tuesday, September 29
A rune from each of the four scripts
This is an archived reading, kept as it was published.
Bjarkan is the birch: something young and green that has taken hold on cleared ground. Today something is beginning in a place that was recently emptied. It looks slight and it is not nothing. Protect it from assessment for a while longer, including your own, and let it get its roots in before anybody asks what it is going to become.
Ing went east over the wave with his wagon following, the English poem says, and the letter holds both halves: the sealed thing and the departure everyone is still arranged around. Today the departure is the nearer half. Something is about to leave, a stage about to close, and the people round it are still organised as though it were staying. Do not reorganise them yet. Let the wagon go first, then look at what the arrangement was for. The stage completes on its own timing, and the day after it goes is when the new shape becomes visible.
Tinne is a bar of refined metal: one component of something that has to work. Today you are making a part rather than a whole, and the temptation is to judge it as if it were finished. It is not the thing. It has to fit the thing. Get the dimension right and leave the assessment for the assembly.
For your star sign
The same reading, taken through each sign of the zodiac.
Aries
You will open the wagon to see what is inside. Every early look costs part of the load. This week, the discipline is to leave something sealed that you badly want to check on.
Taurus
You are built for gestation and this rune is your kind of week. Keep the seal, keep the routine, and do not let anyone hurry the stage. It completes when it completes.
Gemini
You will describe what is in the wagon before it is unloaded. Describe nothing this week. Ing goes over the wave with the load intact, and talking about it is a form of opening it.
Cancer
Something is gestating and your instinct is to tend it. This week tend it by leaving it alone. The sealed thing is protected by not being touched, which is a harder care than the usual kind.
Leo
There is no audience for a sealed wagon and that will bother you. Let it. This week the thing worth having is invisible, and showing people an empty stage costs more than the silence.
Virgo
You will inspect the seal daily to check it is holding. Inspect it once. Ing is a gestation, and gestations do not go better for being measured.
Libra
You will ask whether it is ready. It is ready when it leaves, and not before. This week stop asking and let the departure be the answer.
Scorpio
Sealed potential is your native mode and this week the rune agrees with you. The only addition: know who the wagon is going to. Ing departs toward somewhere, and the destination matters.
Sagittarius
The wagon is going east over the wave and you want to be on it now. It has not left. This week is the waiting before the departure, and leaving early means leaving without the load.
Capricorn
You will schedule the completion. It has its own schedule. This week put the date away and keep the process, which is the part you can actually hold.
Aquarius
You will want to know what is in the wagon as a matter of principle. This week the principle loses. Some things are complete only if they were sealed the whole time.
Pisces
You feel what is gestating and will want to name it. Do not. Ing is potential still inside, and a name given too early fixes it before it has finished becoming.
For your Chinese animal
The same reading, taken through each animal of the Chinese zodiac.
Rat
You will check the wagon to make sure nothing has been taken. Nothing has. This week trust the seal; the checking is what breaks it.
Ox
This is your kind of work: guard the thing, keep the routine, wait. The one addition is to know what you are waiting for, so the departure does not surprise you when it comes.
Tiger
You will force the stage to complete. It cannot be forced. This week hold still around something sealed and let it finish on its own, which for you is the harder discipline.
Rabbit
Guarding something quietly is what you do best. This week that is the entire job. Nobody needs to know the wagon exists until it goes.
Dragon
You want the departure to be an event. It will be a wagon going over the wave. This week let the leaving be quiet and the load be what makes it matter.
Snake
You keep things sealed by instinct and this week the rune is on your side. Keep it. The only caution is not to seal so long that the departure never comes.
Horse
The wagon has not left and you have. Come back. This week the thing worth carrying is still in gestation, and the departure without it is an empty road.
Goat
You will ask someone whether the seal is holding. It is. This week trust your own guard and stop needing the reassurance, which is a way of opening the lid.
Monkey
You will find a way to look inside without breaking the seal. There is no such way. This week, leave it entirely closed and let the curiosity be a thing you carry unsatisfied.
Rooster
You will want to audit the contents before departure. Ing does not offer an inspection. This week trust that what was sealed properly is complete, and check it when it arrives.
Dog
You will stand guard over the wagon and that is right. The addition is that the guard does not open it either. This week, protect without inspecting.
Pig
You will forget the wagon is there, which is one way to keep the seal. This week remember it exists, keep it closed, and be ready for the departure rather than surprised by it.
