Venus Opposite Ascendant
Venus opposite the Ascendant is Venus conjunct the Descendant, 180° from the rising degree. Attraction, taste and harmony live in the seat of partners, so love is central and other people carry much of what you find beautiful. The placement gives a gift for partnership and a standing question of how to keep your own worth.
A heart that lives across the table: gifted at partnership, and learning to carry its own charm.

Venus across from the rising degree
An opposition joins points 180° apart, six signs away, in signs of the same polarity. This chart counts it within 8°. Classical authors read it as an aspect of polarity: two sides that face each other and seek balance. Venus stands opposite the Ascendant, which puts her on the Descendant, in whole-sign terms usually the seventh house. This is the seat of partners and contracts, and the house of the sign Libra, which Venus rules, so she is at ease there. The Empress, her card, shows the same receptive warmth.
An opposition to the Ascendant is a conjunction to the Descendant. Venus never strays more than about 47° from the Sun, so the Sun was near the western horizon too: you were born within a few hours of sunset. The angles move about a degree every four minutes, and an 8° orb is about half an hour on either side. The aspect needs an accurate birth time.
How Venus colours the self and the other
At the Ascendant end, your manner may be reserved or neutral until someone is across from you. Charm comes out in one-to-ones, and you often feel most yourself when you are with a particular person.
At the Descendant end, Venus is in the partner's seat. Other people tend to carry the beauty, the taste and the warmth in your life, and you may see in them what you do not credit yourself with. The work is to claim your own share of Venus, so a partner is a companion and not the only source.
Venus opposite Ascendant in love
Love is central. You tend to move toward committed relationships early, and you often put effort into making them comfortable and lovely. You value fairness and are good at keeping the peace between two people.
The risk is giving away your worth: finding a partner more attractive, talented or worthy than yourself, and then adjusting to their taste. Compatibility grows with partners who see you clearly and who need you to hold your own view. Time alone is healthy practice.
Work in partnership
As tendencies, the placement suits partnerships and roles that depend on agreement: mediation, law, counselling, diplomacy, matchmaking, event work, design for clients and collaborative art. You often do your best work with a counterpart.
Watch contracts and money shared with partners. The tradition ties the seventh house to open dealings, and Venus's wish for harmony can lead to terms that favour the other side. Put agreements in writing and read them as an equal.
Carrying your own Venus
The task of an opposition is balance. Do something beautiful that nobody else sees and that you do for yourself: a meal, a room, a piece of work. Notice what you like before you ask what the other person likes.
The Empress is her own source of abundance. She does not wait to be admired. The opposition asks you to be that for yourself, and then to share it.
Questions to reflect on
- What do I find beautiful in my partner that I do not allow myself?
- When did I last choose something only because I liked it?
- How do I feel when I am alone for a week?
- Whose taste have I taken as my own?
