Gebo
A gift arrives with terms nobody stated. Ask what is expected before you enjoy it. Say the one sentence that settles it.
Runes: Next week
Gebo is two strokes crossing at their centres, and nobody can say which stroke is the giving one. That is the reading for the week. Something is likely to pass between you and another person, help or a favour, and both ends of it will be real. The Hávamál is blunt about the arithmetic: a gift always looks for a return. In the old warband a lord gave rings and the retainer gave loyalty, and neither side pretended the trade was free. The exchange does not have to be equal. It has to be known. Before the week is out, try to be able to say what you owe and what is owed to you. Where only one side is keeping count, that is the place to speak up.
