Ogham
Emancholl means twin of hazel, and the hazel in question is the letter Coll rather than the tree. It is two C-shapes latticed across the stemline, and doubling the letter roughened the sound into the scrape in loch. Today you meet something for the second time: the same shape, a harder version of it, and the only real question is whether you recognise the repeat or treat it as new. Its kenning imitates its own noise instead of naming a thing, which is a fair warning about the day. What you notice may be old strain becoming audible rather than anything fresh arriving.
