Progress

Hexagram 35 is the sun rising over the earth, and its Judgment describes recognition arriving faster than protocol usually allows: a capable prince is presented with horses in great number and granted audience three times in a single day. Advancement here is generous, public and rapid. The Image is the classic's caution about what you advance for. The light comes out above the earth, so the noble person brightens their own bright character. The progress is internal first; nothing external is being polished. This week something moves forward visibly, and probably faster than you expected. Take the horses and the audience. Then spend the week on the thing the Image names, which is your own character, because that is what the sun is actually rising over.

For your star sign

The same reading, taken through each sign of the zodiac.

Aries

You will take the horses and ride them at the audience. This week take the audience calmly, three times if offered. The progress is yours; the manner of receiving it is the test.

Taurus

Rapid advancement makes you suspicious. This week it is real. Accept the horses and let the audience happen, and brighten your own character while the sun is up.

Gemini

You will announce the progress before the horses arrive. This week let it be seen rather than said. The sun rises over the earth without a press release.

Cancer

You will feel exposed by the visible advancement. The Image gives you the private half: brighten your own character. This week do that, and the public half takes care of itself.

Leo

This is your hexagram: horses, audience, sun over the earth. The week is yours. The Image's one caution is that the brightening is of character, not of reputation, and you know the difference.

Virgo

You will decline the horses as premature. Take them this week. The progress is generous on purpose, and refusing it is not humility, it is a different kind of pride.

Libra

You will wonder whether you deserve the audience three times in a day. This week the question is not asked by the sun. Go in, and spend the rest of the week on the character.

Scorpio

You will suspect the rapid advancement of having a price. This week it may not. Take it, and let the brightening of character be your own doing rather than a defence.

Sagittarius

The progress is visible and you will use it to go somewhere else. This week stay where the sun is rising. The audience is here, three times, and the horses are for this ground.

Capricorn

Advancement faster than protocol offends your sense of order. This week accept it anyway. The sun does not check the schedule, and the Image is about what you do with the light.

Aquarius

You will treat the horses as a system to be understood. This week they are a gift. Take them, and brighten the character, which is the part the Image says the light is for.

Pisces

You will feel the progress and not be sure it is yours. It is. This week the audience is granted to you, and the character to brighten is yours to work on.

For your Chinese animal

The same reading, taken through each animal of the Chinese zodiac.

Rat

You will convert the horses to cash. This week keep the horses. The progress is public and the audience is real, and the Image asks for character, not liquidity.

Ox

You will accept the advancement slowly and by the third audience it will be over. This week move at the sun's pace. Progress here is rapid, and it rewards whoever kept up.

Tiger

You will take the horses and ride them into the audience chamber. This week the audience is granted, not stormed. Take the progress with the manner the Image describes.

Rabbit

Visible advancement is exposure and you will shrink from it. This week stand in the light. The sun rises over the earth for the capable, and you are the prince the Judgment names.

Dragon

This week is yours: horses in great number, audience three times. The Image is the only warning. Brighten your own character, not the throne, because the sun is over you and not it.

Snake

You will receive the progress and hide the horses. This week let them be seen. Advancement here is public on purpose, and the hidden version wastes the light.

Horse

The horses are yours and you will ride off. This week stay for the audience. Progress is granted here, in this court, and running takes you out of the light.

Goat

You will ask whether the audience is really for you. It is. This week go in three times, and spend the evenings on the character the Image wants brightened.

Monkey

You will find the protocol interesting and miss the audience. This week attend it. The progress is rapid, and the clever observer of it is not the prince.

Rooster

You will inspect the horses and find one lame. This week take them all. The advancement is generous, and the Image asks you to polish your own character, not the gift.

Dog

You will give the horses to someone more deserving. This week keep them. The prince in the Judgment is the capable one, and the capable one is you.

Pig

You will enjoy the horses and skip the audience. This week attend it. The sun is rising over the earth, and the Image asks what you are advancing for, which is a question worth answering at the table.
